"The cards are too easy to find" has got to be just about the dumbest thing I've heard people say. I hope the designers never listen to these idiots. Investors will never be nothing but poison for TCGs. They are extremely fickle. And treating a hobby as a financial investment is one of the studidest things ever.

Where about in Japan (what city or town) would you recommend going to, to get the best deals as far as pricing goes? Im sure they price everything based on tourism, knowing that tourists come looking to purchase cards.

As someone who used to play Pokemon TCG, I've always found collectors annoying--grabbing up the best cards just to have them sit in binders and never play with them. Their motivations are to find their own kind of happiness that I can't relate to, and they aren't parasitic scalpers, but I can't say I pity them for losing motivation when rare card rates are too high... or too low... or there's not enough pretty artwork... or too much... absolutely ridiculous to me.

I was in Japan a few months ago and bought a ton of cards. Akihabara is the obvious place to shop but I actually bought a lot more at Denden Town in Osaka. The latter is smaller but more condensed so it was easy to pop in and out of stores more quickly.

Pokemon TCG is literally the biggest scam of all TCGs, if you're a collector. There's no way around it. They print way too much for the cards to have any real value. The IP is keeping the game afloat, but it is such a bad bet. I recently changed from pokemon to another tcg and the difference is so big. In terms of stress, actual fulfilment on getting the cards, the state of the market, the ease of selling, etc etc. The pokemon market is filled with bad actors already, and recent overly shiny, overpriced, overprinted cards, tingled my senses and I ran away. Don't be fooled, the Japanese market will sink you lower than the english one, even if it sounds weird and completely wrong.

Damaged cards are better anyway in my opinion. That markdown in those Japanese stores had cards from like 1000 yen down to like 200 yen just because it was damaged. So not only are damaged cards cheaper, but they also hold a lot of history that's genuinely feels great to hold.

at 22:54 you talk about gratuity and tipping. At a lot of restaurants if your group size is big (usually 6 or more people) the restaurant automatically charges 18-20% "gratuity." You are NOT expected to tip on top of included gratuity.
